Musicals & Ballets

 Musicals I've Seen

I love music. Music has always been a part of life at a very young age, and I am not talking about the mainstream music you hear on the radio. If you were to ask me what my favorite genre of music is, it will have to be Original Movie/TV soundtracks (OST) and Musical Theatre (I love the storytelling aspect).

My older sister introduced me to the world of musical theatre at the age of 14 (I think xD), and since then I have listened to multiple albums — Next To Normal, Wicked, Once, Fun Home, Anatasia, Daddy Long Legs, Jagged Little Pill, and many more. In the winter of 2014, I was given the opportunity to attend my first musical Les Miserable as a school trip, and since then, I have gone back to the theatre multiple times. There is a magical experience I feel when I watch real-life performances telling their stories via music.

That said, here is a collection of musicals I have seen thus far:

  • Hadestown
  • Wicked
  • Anatasia
  • Once
  • Daddy Long Legs
  • John & Jen
  • Next to Normal
  • Newsies
  • Bonnie and Clyde
  • Jagged Little Pill
  • Les Miserable
  • The Little Mermaid
  • The Heathers
  • Carrie
  • Company
  • Beetlejuice
  • Cinderella
  • An America in Paris

To this date, Hadestown is my favorite musical; I love how poetic the lyrics are and how beautiful the music is. Not to mention, the storytelling and the innovative use of the stage are pretty cool! I have already watched and listened to the track multiple times already and I am super excited to watch this again when the cast is coming on tour to Toronto this upcoming summer of 2023.

If you are a musical theater nerd like me, let me know what your favorite musical is! I would love to hear from you!

Ballets I've Seen

Something that has always intrigued me is telling a story via movement and dance, every move serves a purpose — it's telling a story; I love how artistic each movement can be.

A collection of ballets I have seen thus far are:
  • Alice's Adventure in Wonderland
  • Giselle
  • La Sylphide
  • Romeo & Juliet
  • Cinderella
  • Peter and the Wolf
