Short Week Update 5 — Happy anniversaries, birthday pets, and chaos
January 30th - 31st: career exploration back to square one
- I continued with my career exploration and decided to try out instructional design — I love mentoring and developing resources for associates at work so I thought this job might be the perfect fit. However, after taking a couple of free online courses it turns out this job is not for me. I feel like I am back at square one. Sometimes I wish I was given a sign so I know what I am meant to do already. I am starting to feel frustrated and am considering seeing a career counselor to guide me to the right path. February 1st - 2nd: anniversary sniffles, more chaos, happy news & durian goodness
- Feb 1st: Today is such a chaotic day. My mom got really upset that someone left the kitchen sink leaking. My parent's kitchen sink has been leaking for a while now and my dad attempted to fix it (watching Youtube videos). Sadly, no luck. Following the sink, it looks like one of the toilet handles was starting to be loose.
- Feb 2nd: It is my parent's anniversary as well as my sister's pet bunny's first birthday. My sister celebrated her pet's birthday by making a really simple cake (made out of banana, strawberries, and oats) and bringing her home for us to play with her. My mother caught a cold recently so we couldn't celebrate her anniversary.
- Another snow squall surprisingly hit Toronto, causing a power outage in a couple of areas due to the wind; I was very lucky enough to have my power go out just one time.
- Received a really cool dinner invitation from my cousin, who recently had a newborn, to celebrate the milestone of being 100 months old on April 1st.
- Tried this really cool durian hopia cake from Costco; the inside had a lot of durians filling with bits of chunks, making me feel like I was eating real durian. A warning for people who do not like durian, when you open the package there is slightly a strong scent. Lastly, the cake itself is a little oily but flaky. Overall, each bite I took was like durian heaven and I would definitely buy this again. 🤤
February 3rd - 4th: chill work day, break time & officially the year of the rabbit
- Feb 3rd: Today was one of the coldest days in Toronto; it was below negative 24 degrees celsius. One of the perks of working from home is being able to stay home on cold winter days like these. That said, work felt chilled for once; I got the chance to take my lunch break and spoke with my sister.
- After a long week, I decided to treat myself to some Gilmore Girls; I am on season 3!
- I tried out this new Nescafe Iced Caramel Salted Latte packet drink that one of my sisters brought home from work; it was not too sweet and had very tiny pieces of caramel in the drink.
- Feb 4th: It is officially the year of the rabbit! 🐇 Every lunar new year, my mother purchases and places lucky figurines known as lucky charms around the house following feng shui to bring prosperity, luck, and love.
- I was feeling under the weather so I took the time to catch up on rest and watched movies in bed.
- I am now thinking I caught a bug since I vomited my dinner during the evening.
February 5th: the last day of lunar new year
- It was the last day of the lunar new year. Being the last day, my family and I close off the new year with a family dinner. Overall, this new year was very fulfilling — we got to eat lots of food, my aunts and uncle came to visit us (they haven't come to visit since COVID hit), and family time with my family.
- Today, I was feeling so much better than yesterday. Maybe because it was the sun; the sun always makes me feel better.
- I continue to complete some work and was contemplating shifting my blog to WordPress — let me know what you guys think?!
- I spent a couple of hours yesterday watching Youtube tutorials by Taylor Moore. You can check him out here.
